macOS 10.15 Catalina

I have been printing classroom materials from powerpoint for years and suddenly the last few weeks all my clipart images have a black box around them when printed.  I checked to make sure my printer is up to date, no firmware updates, I restored factory settings, I made sure my computer, powerpoint, and printer do not have any updates.  I've restarted, reinstalled, checked for borders, etc.  Nothing has worked so far.  There has to be a reason! The boxes do not appear if printing from Adobe PDF reader, only from my powerpoint slides, but I need to be able to print directly from powerpoint to get correct sizing and not have to take three extra steps every time I need to print something. Please help.

Hi @SWill23,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are facing a print-related issue with your HP Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

To assist you better:

  • May I have the exact model name of the product? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.
  • Is it only happening with one particular PowerPoint file or all PowerPoint files?
  • When was the last time the printer was able to print PowerPoint files correctly?

While you respond to that, please try the below steps:

Try using HP Smart App to print the ppt.

  • Open HP Smart
  • Select print document
  • Select your ppt file and then try printing

You may also try printing using Apple AirPrint

Add the printer using Apple AirPrint drivers.

1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.

3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button at the bottom of the list.

4.) Click the plus sign click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.

5.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select AirPrint in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.

Select AirPrint from the Use menu

6.) Try to print.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
