When turning on my HP Envy 4524 printer all I get is a lit up blank screen.  Could someone tell me what I need to do with it apart from throwing it out of the window please

Hi @Pennyredd ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP ENVY 4524 is experiencing a common issue where the screen lights up but remains blank. This could be due to a firmware issue, power problem, or other internal faults.

Here are some steps you can try to fix the issue:

1. Power Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Unplug any other cables (USB, etc.) connected to the printer.
  • Wait for at least 2 minutes.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check if the display returns to normal.

2. Update the Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer

If you can get the printer to connect to your computer:

  • Go to HP's support website and download the latest firmware for the HP ENVY 4524.
  • Follow the instructions to install the firmware update, as it might resolve display issues.

3. Reset to Factory Settings (If Accessible):

If the display works for a brief moment:

  • On the printer control panel, navigate to Setup > Restore Defaults > Yes to reset the printer to its factory settings.

4. Try a Different Power Source:

  • Plug the printer into a different wall socket or use a different power strip to rule out power issues.

5. Check for Hardware Issues:

If none of the above steps work, there could be a hardware issue like a faulty display or a more serious internal fault that may require service or replacement.

Refer to this document: HP ENVY 4524 All-in-One Printer User manual

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
