I have to delete the printer spool (C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTER) after every single print job. This has been an issue for over 2 years! I have reinstalled the HP drivers multiple times and nothing has helped. Do I need to purchase another printer and trash this one?? So done with this.

Edits - Add how to create a TCP/IP port
I can offer the following...
Once the job is turned over the the print queue, it is controlled by the Windows Print Service.
If you have not done so, it is necessary to Restart Print Services in addition to just clearing the content in the folder.
Print Job Stuck in Queue - Scroll down to Additional Troubleshooting
Print Queue / Print Service Reset
If the current print job will not cancel or if a previous print job is stuck in the queue,
and
If the issue is due to Print Services being stuck / hung / corrupted, Restart the Print Service
Short Version: Stop print service, clear the print folder, Start print service
Details…
Control Panel > icon view > Administrative Tools > Services
Scroll down, find, Right-Click, and Stop Print Spooler Service
Open File Explorer (formally Windows Explorer)
Navigate to the folder and Delete the files from folder C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS
Start Print Spooler Service
Next
Windows software and updates are controlled and offered in Windows Updates > Check for Updates

If the Print Service cannot keep track of the jobs in the queue, it might have to do with the printer not maintaining contact with the service. This could be related to the drivers (printer software) though it might have more to do with the way the printer is connected to the computer and your network.
- Consider adding a manual / static IP address for the printer.
- Consider switching to a TCP/IP port.

If you have installation, offline, or port issues, assign a TCP/IP port for the printer.

Create TCP IP port
1. Print a Configuration Page to get the printer's IPv4 address (you can also tap on the wireless icon on the Front panel of your Printer to get the IP address)
2. On your PC, go to Control Panel, from Devices and Printers, right click the printer and left click Printer Properties, select the Ports tab.
3. Click Add Port, select Standard TCP/IP Port, then select New Port and follow the wizard.
4. Type in the proper IP address for the printer.

Note that you can ALWAYS revert back to the original port that the HP software installed by selecting the HP port under the Ports tab (in Printer Properties)

Hi Dragon-Fur,
Thanks for your advise! I had been stopping and staring the spooling as well. I forgot to mention that. I did, however create a TCP IP Port and that seems to have fixed the issue for now. I was able to print 2 documents in a row! YAY! I hope this continues to function properly. Thanks again!
