My printer was printing in colour very well, but suddenly stopped. I changed the ink cartridge, but this did not resolve the problem. I have an HP DJ 4530 and my computer is 64 bit using windows 10 os. When I print from my laptop, colour printing works ok.

Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums. I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that you have an HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 4530 All-in-One Printer. I read that the printer stopped printing color. You have replaced the ink cartridge and the issue persists. I read that this printer prints fine in color from another laptop. Fabulous analysis. Spectacular diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that.

The evidence points towards a printer drivers issue. SInce the printer is able to print in color from another laptop, this confirms that the printer's hardware (including the cartridges) are fine.

I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Please download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor software on the computer from which the printer does not print in color. This is a free tool for Windows to help resolve issues with the printer drivers.

Please try to print and ensure that you have selected to print in color from the print settings of the application you're trying to print from.

If the printer still does not print in color then I suggest you to uninstall the printer drivers from the root level and then reinstall them. The following steps will help:

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • You may download and install the drivers from this link: www.123.hp.com

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Feel free to let me know how it goes. Cheers! 🙂

Thank you for your reply. Actually, I was expecting an email notification of a reply because I had that box checked and when I didn't see any email come in, I didn't check here. Just saw your email so came here to look.

Since the non-colour printing issue (which has been going on for a good few weeks), my printer stopped printing altogether. When I would try to print something, my computer would inform me that the printer had "unresolved issues", which really sounded like it needed a therapist, but anyway...I got my son to uninstall and reinstall it and it seems to be working just fine - colour and all. But if the same problem comes up, I will certainly refer to your answer here for appropriate help.

Thank you for taking the time to advise me on this.

@Jucaran

You're most welcome.

I'm glad to know that after uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, the issue has got fixed. I must say that technical solutions can only be provided. But it was you and your son who performed it to perfection.

Happy printing!
