Hi @Pitche,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Smart Tank 589 All-in-One printer is only printing half a page and frequently stopping, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

Check Ink Levels

  • Ensure that the ink tanks are adequately filled. Low ink levels can cause printing issues.

Clean Printhead

  • Use the HP Smart App:
    • Open the HP Smart app on your device.
    • Select your printer, then go to Printer Maintenance or Tools.
    • Choose the option to clean the printhead. This can help remove any clogs.

Run Print Quality Diagnostic

  • Use the HP Smart app to print a quality diagnostic page. This can help identify if there are issues with the printhead or ink.

Check for Paper Jams

  • Inspect the printer for any paper jams or obstructions. Remove any jammed paper carefully.

Update Printer Firmware

  • Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check for updates through the HP Smart app or the HP website.

Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Check Printer Settings

  • Make sure that you are using the correct paper size and type settings in your print dialog.

Test with Different Paper

  • Try using a different type or brand of paper to see if the problem persists.

Try a Different Connection Method

  • If you're printing wirelessly, try connecting the printer via USB to see if the issue continues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
