We bought our HP Laser Jet 8600 twelve years ago.
It's an excellent printer, very high qualilty.
It works very well, even at this old age of 12.
Recently the "basket" that holds the ink cartridges broke down.
I've been trying to get a new one, not because I can't afford a new printer, but rather because I'm tired of throwing things away.
The amount of electronic garbage is horrifically huge. We all know that.
It may be the case that HP no longer support this printer, and perhaps they didn't keep this part in their stock. Nobody told me that. I would like to hope that there's someone there keeping parts of old printers and selling them over the net, however I haven't been able to get the catalog number for the part.
The same applies to my dishwasher (Miele, the top basket is rusty, the company wants me to buy a new machine, otherwise I'll have to pay 50% of a new machine price just for the basket). Similarly our kitchen oven, again by Miele, a company that use to brag about its products 'living' for decades.
Back to the HP in cartridges 8600 'tray': Any advice?
Thanks

Try looking for parts (online) for an Officejet Pro 8600 as opposed to "Laserjet".
Not the same animal and the search results will be better with a correct printer name.
For example, open web browser and search for "Officejet Pro 8600 parts"
In the USA, useless for you perhaps, though it should at least give you a starting point...
For example:

I would add that Ebay is often an excellent source as there are a lot of small guys who part out printers to supply hard to find products.
I am a volunteer, offering my knowledge to support fellow users, I do not work for HP nor speak for HP.
