On my new Envy 6100e printer I have eventually found that I can print Excel when using Bing Browser but not my preferred Chrome browser, Why?

I understand that your HP Envy 6120e All-in-One Printer is not printing Excel files when using Google Chrome, but it works fine with the Bing Browser (Microsoft Edge). This issue is likely related to Chrome’s print settings, cache, or extensions. Let’s go through some troubleshooting steps to resolve this.

Verify Chrome’s Print Settings

  1. Open Google Chrome and press Ctrl + P to open the print dialog.
  2. Ensure that HP Envy 6120e is selected as the printer.
  3. Click More settings and check Paper Size, Scaling, and other print preferences.
  4. Try clicking Print using system dialog (Ctrl + Shift + P) and attempt to print from there.

Clear Chrome’s Cache and Reset Print Settings

  1. Open Chrome and type chrome://settings/clearBrowserData in the address bar.
  2. Select Cached images and files and click Clear data.
  3. Restart Chrome and test printing again.

Disable Extensions That Might Be Interfering

  1. Type chrome://extensions/ in Chrome’s address bar.
  2. Disable all extensions and then try printing.
  3. If printing works, enable extensions one by one to find the problematic one.

Update or Reinstall Chrome

  • Ensure Chrome is up to date by visiting chrome://settings/help.
  • If the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall Chrome.

Set the Correct Default Printer in Windows

  1. Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
  2. Select HP Envy 6120e, click Manage, and set it as the default printer.
  3. Try toggling Let Windows manage my default printer off and on.

Try an Alternative Printing Method (if required)

  • Download the Excel file and print directly from the Excel application instead of Chrome.
  • If needed, test printing from a different browser like Edge or Firefox.

Update Printer Drivers

  1. Open Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager).
  2. Expand Printers, right-click HP Envy 6120e, and select Update driver.
  3. You can also download the latest drivers from the HP Support Website

Step 8: Run HP Print and Scan Doctor

For a quick diagnostic, download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor to detect and fix printing issues.
