@GPSeabloom, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Officejet 4635 won't turn on when plugged in, here are some common troubleshooting steps you can try:

Check the Power Source

  • Plug directly into a wall outlet (avoid power strips or surge protectors).
  • Try a different wall outlet to rule out a faulty socket.
  • Ensure the power cord is securely connected to both the printer and the outlet.

Perform a Hard Reset

  • Unplug the printer from the power source.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and press the Power button once (don’t hold it down too long).

Inspect the Power Cord and Adapter

  • Look for any visible damage to the cord or adapter.
  • If possible, test with a compatible power cord from another HP printer.

Check for Internal Issues

  • Open the printer and check for:
    • Paper jams
    • Loose or misaligned ink cartridges
    • Obstructions inside the printer

Ink Cartridge Issue

  • If the printer shut down after an “out of ink” message, try:
    • Removing and reinserting the cartridges
    • Cleaning the cartridge contacts
    • Replacing the cartridges if needed

If none of the above works, the issue might be with the internal power supply, we suggest you please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
Kindly follow this link to locate the nearest HP service center: HP® Service Center Locator - United States | HP® Support

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
