HP ENVY 5540

I installed a new black ink and it will print the first page (on a new day) with some black ink and streaks. Then I try all the cleanings and it won't print any black ink whatsoever.

@jkohler2, Welcome to HP Support Community!

I see that the printer does not print in black and I appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve the issue.

If you have already performed the steps from the document Printer Prints Blank Page or Does Not Print Black, Color Ink, and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Hope this helps!

Hi!

I'm a support engineer for hp customers in Japan.

My trick is as below:

1. Do cartridge cleaning 3 times.
*If you already did this "today", then don't need.
2. Take out the black cartridge.
3. Put the cartrdge upside down, and leave it as it is for 5-6 hours.
4. Insert the cartrige, print again.

The odds of recovery is 50/50.
