I recently switched WiFi towers in Xfinity, I am no longer able to connect to my hp envy 6455 printer which is using the previous WiFi name for the SSID. How can I change the printer SSID to match the new WiFi name? I have tried many web suggestions with no luck. HpSmart no longer has the printer listed.

Hi @LoveNegril,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you need to reconnect your HP Envy 6455 printer to your new Wi-Fi network. Here’s how you can do that:
1. Reconnect via the Printer's Control Panel
- Power On: Make sure your printer is turned on.
- Control Panel: On the printer's control panel, press the Wireless button (it looks like a signal icon) to access the wireless settings.
- Setup Wizard: Navigate to the Settings or Network menu and look for the Wireless Setup Wizard. Select it.
- Choose Your Network: The printer will search for available networks. Select your new Wi-Fi SSID from the list.
- Enter Password: Enter the Wi-Fi password when prompted and confirm.
2. Using HP Smart App
If the printer is not showing up in the HP Smart app:
- Download the HP Smart App: Ensure you have the latest version of the HP Smart app on your device (available for Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS).
- Add Printer: Open the app and tap the + icon to add a printer.
- Follow Prompts: The app may guide you through reconnecting the printer to your new Wi-Fi network.
3. WPS Connection (If Available)
If your router supports WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup):
- Press WPS Button: Press the WPS button on your router.
- Printer WPS: On the printer, press and hold the Wireless button for a few seconds, then release it.
- Connection: The printer should automatically connect to the Wi-Fi network.
4. Reset Network Settings
If you’re still having trouble:
- Reset Network Settings: On the printer, navigate to Settings > Network and look for an option to reset network settings. This will remove any stored Wi-Fi configurations.
- Reconnect: After resetting, try the Wireless Setup Wizard again to connect to your new network.
5. Firmware Update
Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can do this via the HP Smart app or by accessing the printer’s settings through a web browser if it’s connected to a network.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
