Not sure if problem is with router setup (Hitron) or printer setup (5255).  I am stuck at the wireless setup process.  The correct wifi name can be selected but it does not give me the option to enter the password.  After selecting the wifi name it lists name and security: not enabled.  But there is WPA2 enabled.  So then if I press continue the panel says "connecting" for a long time and then results say "unable to connect to the network." Also, I do not have the push button or pin setup enabled. I can enable the push button option to connect the printer to the network; but, my phone is the only thing that can print with this setup.  I have even tried connecting the printer directly to the usb on the router and still no go.  I do not want to have to use the wired setup though because I need to have access to the printer from my phone and laptop as well.

So, is there something I am missing in the router setup? Everything was factory reset unplugged and restarted with the same result. Plus I cannot print any of the help pages because I cannot reconnect the auto-ink without the wifi setup.

Welcome to HP Support Community!

Let's try to restore the printer to the network defaults:

To restore the printer to the original network settings
1. From the Home screen, touch (Wireless) and then touch ( Settings ).
2. Touch Restore Network Settings, and then follow the onscreen instructions.
3. Print the network configuration page and verify that the network settings have been reset.

Set up the printer on your wireless network:

1. To set up from the printer control panel:

1. On the printer control panel display, from the Home screen, touch ( Wireless ).
2. Touch ( Settings ).
3. Touch Wireless Setup Wizard or Wi-Fi Protected Setup.
4. Follow the display instructions to complete the setup.

If the issue persists, let's try setting up using HP Smart app:

When using the app on my phone, it can find the printer but when it is "preparing the printer" it hangs on "Accessing the Network" an then says the password might be wrong.  The password I entered is correct as I double checked the modem settings just in case.  I have a brand new Hitron CODA 4589 router if that helps.  All the router settings are factory default except renaming the wi-fi and giving it a new password.  I did enable push button security as a last resort but I would rather try to get the network to see it before trying a direct connect solution.

@Misha326,

Let's try these steps here:

1) Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent.
3) With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.
3) Wait for 60 seconds.
4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not to a surge protector.
5) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

If the issue persists, I would personally suggest you contact our HP support team for further assistance.
