I have an HP LaserJet Pro 200 MFP M276nw that stopped connecting wirelessly.  I get the message that the WPA authentication method on your HP printer has been changed from the default setting.  When I go into the printer settings and display the passphrase it is the exact same passphrase I enter when I try to configure wirelessly.  I have searched various workarounds and cannot find the solution.

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds like your HP LaserJet Pro 200 MFP M276nw is experiencing a WPA authentication issue, possibly due to a security setting change or compatibility issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps to resolve this:

Restart Everything

  • Power cycle your printer, router, and computer.
  • Turn off your printer, unplug it for about a minute, then plug it back in and restart.
  • Restart your router and computer as well.

Forget and Reconnect the Network on Printer

  • On the printer, navigate to Setup > Network Setup > Wireless Settings.
  • Select Restore Network Defaults, then restart the printer.
  • Go back to Wireless Setup Wizard and try reconnecting with the correct passphrase.

Manually Assign IP Address

  • If the printer previously connected but doesn’t now, assign a static IP.
  • On your router, find the printer’s MAC address and assign a manual IP.
  • Alternatively, during Wi-Fi setup on the printer, try entering the IP address manually instead of DHCP.

Update Printer Firmware

  • Outdated firmware may cause authentication issues.
  • Download the latest firmware from HP’s support website:
HP Support for LaserJet Pro 200 MFP M276nw
  • Install the firmware update via a USB connection if the printer isn’t connecting wirelessly.

Try a 2.4GHz Connection

  • If your router supports dual-band Wi-Fi, ensure the printer is connecting to the 2.4GHz band instead of 5GHz.
  • Some older HP printers don’t support 5GHz networks.

Reset Printer Network Settings

  • If nothing else works, perform a full network reset:
    • Go to Setup > Service > Restore Defaults.
    • Select Restore Network Settings and confirm.
    • Reconnect the printer to the Wi-Fi.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
