Hi @Boucher30,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP printer is stuck on the blue HP screen and won't fully turn on, here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow to try to resolve the issue:

1. Perform a Power Cycle

Turn Off the Printer:

  • Press the power button to turn off the printer. If the printer doesn’t respond, unplug it from the power source.

Unplug and Wait:

  • Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet. Wait for at least 60 seconds to ensure all residual power is drained.

Reconnect and Restart:

  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and the printer. Turn the printer back on and see if it completes the startup process.

2. Check Power Supply and Connections

Inspect Power Cord:

  • Ensure that the power cord is securely connected to both the printer and the power outlet. Check for any visible damage to the power cord.

Try a Different Outlet:

  • Plug the printer into a different power outlet to rule out issues with the power source.

3. Check for Paper Jams or Other Issues

Open Printer:

  • Open the printer’s paper tray and access door to check for any paper jams or obstructions.

Clear Jams:

  • If you find any paper jams or foreign objects, carefully remove them.

4. Reset Printer to Factory Settings

Locate the Reset Option:

  • Refer to the printer’s manual to find instructions on how to perform a factory reset. For many HP printers, this involves pressing and holding specific buttons during startup.

Perform the Reset:

  • Follow the manual’s instructions to reset the printer to its factory settings.

5. Update Printer Firmware

  1. Check for Firmware Updates:
    • If you can access HP’s support website, check if there are any firmware updates available for your model. If the printer is stuck on the blue screen, this step may not be possible until the printer starts up normally.

6. Consult the Printer’s Manual

  1. Refer to the Manual:
    • Check the printer’s manual for any troubleshooting steps related to startup issues or the blue HP screen.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I have done the unplugging and plugging up again and still no luck. I have managed to get past the blue hp screen but now I have a different error on the screen. Now it says improper shutdown and will not go past that screen.
