I was printing some Valentine's for my daughter and they include a picture of her. I printed the first batch and for some reason they were about a cm lower on the page than they were supposed to be (on the front side only, obviously I was printing two sided cards). I gave up and decided to print only front side, but I also decided to print using a better print quality, so I choose "best" instead of "normal/everyday". Well then it started printing in only grayscale. I've done everything I can think of to undo my print setting changes, but it won't print anything in color except the test pages. What did I do and how do I un-do it?

Welcome to HP support community.

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.

My computer doesn't have "programs and features" when I search for it. It doesn't have "Devices and Printers"  When I type printui.exe into the Windows Key + R then a big error message pops up. I don't see the Drivers Tab.

Thanks for replying!

What is the error message you get on the screen?

Meanwhile, I would suggest you try the Windows built-in drivers. Follow the steps below:

•    Go to Control Panel - Devices and Printers - Click on "Add printer" and follow the on-screen instructions.

•    When the page prompts for the drivers, select "Windows update". The driver list will be updated.

•    Click HP, Hewlett Packard, or Hewlett-Packard in the Manufacturer pane, and then click the name of your printer in the Printers pane.

Refer to this document HP Printers - Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver for help.

Keep me posted for further assistance.

I just had time to fool with it. I got everything deleted (I think) then I added the printer back and successfully printed in color both a test page and a page from word. I don't know if I fixed everything, but for now it seems to be working again.
