Officejet Pro 8728
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

For information and the attention of HP.

I received a replacement Officejet pro 872* printer and transferred the printhead and ink cartridges from my months old OJ Pro 8728 printer - as instructed by the HP rep when l reported the roller noise fault (under 3yr guarantee).

This was straightforward enough to do, but the instruction seemed odd - given the replacement printer had a printhead installed and came with new cartridges too. However, l did as was instructed and  easily installed my old printhead and cartridges. However, the old ink cartridges were rejected due to an 'original printer' issue that flagged up.

The eventual outcome is that l solved it by reinstalling the replacement printer's inkhead and used the new ink cartridges provided. So why was l originally instucted to ("you must") reuse the old printhead and cartridges? Needless to say my ink original cartridges are now wasted. Fortunately l have the cartridge replacement serivice but what is you didn't?

To cap it all off, if l did feel any satisfaction in solving the issue ,it was very short lived and l was left feeling very silly. During the installation process,  l only then noticed my look-alike replacement printer was actually the older model Officejet Pro 8725 and not my Offciejet Pro 8728.

Has anyone else received the 8725 model as a replacement for the 8728. What is the difference?

As l hadn't recieved any communication from HP, l called them about a week ago.

The agent l spoke with was polite but dismissive of my complaint. He simply repeated that the replacement OJ pro 8725 was in the 8720 series and therefore was a reasonable replacement for my OJ pro 8728. As he wouldn't accept the differences in the models he advised me he'd escalated my complaint and assured me that an HP agent would contact me.

It is now the 24th of March and HP still have not communicated with me.

Despite a negitive feedback review,  there still is no contact from HP.
