Hi @sheryl25,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding printer validating for a very long time!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

As your HP OfficeJet Pro 8035e is stuck on "Validating Cartridge", follow these troubleshooting steps:

Power Reset the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet.
  3. Wait for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check Cartridge Compatibility

  • Ensure you are using genuine HP cartridges (for 8035e, you need HP 910 or 910XL ink).
  • If you're enrolled in HP Instant Ink, make sure you're using Instant Ink cartridges.
  • Remove the cartridge and reinsert it securely.

Clean Cartridge Contacts

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Remove the ink cartridge.
  3. Use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water to clean the gold contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer.
  4. Let it dry completely before reinserting.

 Update Printer Firmware

  • Go to HP Support website and download the latest firmware for your printer.
  • Install updates via the HP Smart app or from the printer settings.

Perform a Semi-Full Reset

  1. On the printer, press the Back button (⬅) 4 times to open the Support Menu.
  2. Select Reset Menu > Semi-Full Reset.
  3. Follow the prompts to reset the printer.

Try a Different Cartridge

  • If you have another new HP cartridge, insert it to check if the issue is with the original cartridge.

If the issue persists, let me know I'll guide you further! 😊

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?"—your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍
