Hi @jeannewright

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Experiencing blinking lights on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 can be frustrating. Below are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot the issue:

Check for Error Codes:

  • Blinking lights often indicate specific error codes or problems within the printer. Review any messages displayed on the printer screen or associated with the blinking lights.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the printer using the power button.
  • Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait for about 15 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and check if the issue persists.

Check Connections:

  • Ensure that all cables and connections to the printer are secure and properly connected. Sometimes a loose connection can cause blinking lights.

Reinstall Updated Drivers:

  • Sometimes driver installation might not complete properly. Re-download drivers from the HP website and reinstall them to ensure they are correctly installed.

Inspect for Firmware Updates:

  • Visit the printer’s support page on the HP website and check for any firmware updates that may resolve the issue.

Reset Printer Settings:

  • Access the printer menu to reset settings to default. This can sometimes resolve conflicts caused by incorrect configuration.
