I am using HP 410 Ink Tank series printer. Am unable to print anything in black. Color print is fine. I did run a clean check few times (Both Levels) It did not help and nothing in Black is getting printed.

Ink level is above 80%

Hi @Surajsinghg,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP 410 Ink Tank series printer isn't printing in black even though the ink levels are sufficient and other colors are printing fine, you can follow these troubleshooting steps to possibly resolve the issue:

Check Ink Nozzle: Ensure that the black ink nozzle isn't clogged. Since you've already run a cleaning check, consider doing a more thorough manual cleaning if possible:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Gently remove the black ink cartridge.
  • Use a clean, lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water or a cleaning solution specifically for printers. Gently wipe the nozzle area to remove any dried ink.
  • Allow the cartridge to dry completely before reinserting it.
  • Plug in and turn on the printer, then try printing again.

Print a Nozzle Check Pattern: This isn't just for cleaning but for diagnosing the issue. Print a nozzle check pattern (you may have done this but ensure it's specifically checking for clogs in the black ink channel).

  • If no black ink appears on the page, this confirms a clog or other issue with black ink delivery.

Prime the Ink System: Since this is an ink tank system, it might be necessary to prime the ink system to ensure that ink flows properly from the tank to the nozzles. Refer to your printer manual for specific instructions on how to do this. It generally involves pushing ink through the system to remove air bubbles or dried ink obstructing the flow.

Align the Print Head: Sometimes misalignment of the print head can cause issues with ink delivery. Use the printer's maintenance options to align the print head.

Check for Software Issues: Make sure that your printer driver settings on your computer aren't set to print using only color inks, which some printers can do to simulate black.

  • Go to your printer preferences on your computer and ensure it is set to print in all colors or in grayscale, not just using color inks.

Update Printer Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer from the HP website. Updates can resolve unexpected issues including printing problems.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
