@kitkar, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your printer is showing a "Blocked Printer" message even after installing new ink cartridges, here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Power Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

Check the Ink Cartridges

  • Make sure the cartridges are genuine HP and compatible with your printer model.
  • Remove and reinsert the cartridges to ensure they are seated properly.
  • Clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth and a bit of distilled water.

Update Printer Firmware

  • Go to HP Software and Driver Downloads and enter your printer model.
  • Download and install the latest firmware update.

Reset the Printer to Factory Defaults

  • This option varies by model. You can usually find it under Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore or Reset.
  • Note: This will erase custom settings like Wi-Fi credentials.

Check for Error Codes

  • If there’s a specific error code along with the “Blocked Printer” message, please share it here. It can help narrow down the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

@kitkar, Thank you for your response.

The HP DeskJet 2772 is designed to use HP 67 or HP 67XL cartridges not HP 305. The HP 305 is for European models, while the HP 67 is for North America and Asia-Pacific, including the Philippines.

Use Region-Appropriate Cartridges:

  • Return or exchange the HP 305 cartridges.
  • Buy HP 67 or HP 67XL cartridges, these are the only compatible ones for the Philippines region.

Clear “Blocked Printer” / Cartridge Error:

  • Once the correct cartridges are installed:
  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power for 60 seconds.
  • Reinsert both cartridges (make sure no protective tape is left on).
  • Power on and try again.

If Previously Used in Another Region:

If the printer was originally set up with HP 305, its region is locked. A region reset may be required.
