@tonyabench01, Welcome to the HP Support Community – it’s great to have you here!
I appreciate you taking the time to share your question. I'm more than happy to assist with this and provide a solution that works for you.
I'm sorry to hear you're encountering a blue screen error on your HP ENVY Photo 7858 All-in-One Printer. Let's work together to get this resolved.
Please try the following steps:
Step 1: Perform a Power Reset
- With the printer powered on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait for 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet directly (avoid using surge protectors).
- Reconnect the power cord to the printer and turn it on.
This helps clear any residual power and may resolve temporary firmware glitches.
Step 2: Check for Firmware Updates
If the printer powers on successfully after the reset:
- Ensure the printer is connected to Wi-Fi.
- On the printer's touchscreen, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer.
- Follow the prompts to check and install any available firmware updates.
Alternatively, you can update the firmware using your PC:
- Visit the Official HP® Support
- Click Software and Drivers, select your operating system, and download the latest firmware update utility.

Step 3: Factory Reset (if accessible)
If the printer powers on but still shows the error intermittently:
- On the touchscreen, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.
- Confirm the reset.
⚠️ Note: This will erase all custom settings including Wi-Fi credentials.
If the issue persists and the printer consistently shows a blue screen with an error code, it may indicate a hardware or firmware failure. In that case, please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
