I haven't received a new black cartridge for my printer & really need to print some documents ASAP. Would there be an reprocussions/consequences regarding my Instant Ink account if I go to the store & buy a replacement cartridge?

I have asked to have one of the HP Instant Ink agents to escalate getting your shipment to you.
In the meantime, you can put a retail cartridge in your printer. The pages you print will still be counted toward your monthly usage if there are *any* Instant Ink cartridges in the printer. The Envy 4500 series printers do allow printing in ink backup mode. If you want to print black only with a retail cartridge you could remove the color cartridge and set it aside. Prints you make with only a retail cartridge installed will not be counted toward your monthly Instant Ink usage.
If you are going to remove the color cartridge for more than a half hour or so store the cartridge as shown in the document here to prevent the nozzles from drying out.
