can i bypass the alignment test when i replace the cartridge

Nope, it will start automatically every time until the printer is aligned. You can press the Cancel button to stop printing alignment page and use a printer.

Thanks, I have been doing this for about the last 12 months. I was hoping someone had found a workaround for this problem. It just seems a cheap gotcha installed by HP to force me to purchase an unwanted and very expensive colour cartridge, because without it I can't do the alignment test successfully and I never print in colour but print quite a number of black only documents daily. If anyone can recommend a budget black only printer I would gladly purchase that instead.

You never know you can ask maybe some user on this forum is willing to provide you with their own alignment page so you can keep it forever to align in future. That would be winning one small battle against big company 🙂

Thanks for the idea. I think I will just replace the printer when the ink runs out and if  can find one that doesn't have this ''feature''.
