I am trying to print on Avery Labels using the Avery design and print templates through the Avery website. This worked perfectly on my old HP printer which died earlier this year. Now, now matter what I do - and I have scoured internet pages, youtube videos, and help forums - there is about 1/4 inch misalignment no matter what template or label size I use. If I could add 1/4 inch to the top of the paper it would work perfectly. I know it is not anything to do with the Avery website or an error on my part because it works on my printer at work. Just not on my home printer that I just spend over $1000 on. I am SO FRUSTRATED! Also, please know that I have already done all of the steps suggested on similar posts, videos, and inquires.

Just a note -- FYI only
If you really spent $1000 USD on this printer model, you overpaid by quite a bit.
What?
The 8130e series is one step down from the current OfficeJet Pro 9130e series -- the 8130e should retail for well below $400 (the approximate full retail cost of the 9130e).
--------------------------------------------------------------
I am sorry you are upset.
How can we help?
What?
Having done all you can find leaves little to offer.
Consider the following checkpoints --
Ignore if / when unwanted, already tried, not relevant, or just disliked on principle.
Relevant to Supported Versions of Windows
Some things to know...
- HP Smart supports printing and scanning for PDF and Images / Photos.
- HP Smart does not support printing from Word. HP Smart can print your document if you Export the Word document to PDF format.
- The Full Driver printer software must be installed and functional.
- The HP Driver must be selected in Printer Properties > Advanced > Driver
- If the Default Printer should be properly set to the Printer and not controlled by Microsoft.
- When possible, Export the original Word document to PDF -- Print the PDF file using Adobe Reader at "Actual Size".
==== ==== ==== ==== ==== ====
HP Smart and Template / Label Printing
Having Exported the original document format to PDF does mean that you could print that PDF file using HP Smart.
HP Smart is not always the best tool for printing all label files --
For example, if the original document (Word) was set to compensate for A4 / Letter Size, there might be alignment issues. Whether that is true, depends on the printer, your version of Word, and how the Options in Word are set / adjusted, and finally, whether HP Smart is having to "fit" the content on the paper.
This information is FYI only - ignore when not relevant for any reason.
If you must use HP Smart,
Print the exported PDF file on plain paper and hold that printed page up against your label paper.
If the two are not aligned, consider NOT using HP Smart to print the PDF file on your label paper.
Next,
Before the original Word document is exported to PDF,
check / adjust the settings in Word.
Word – Document Scale
Trouble with labels and possibly with other documents that include mixed content types:
Document Scale
There is a setting in Word that will "scale" a document for Letter / A4 paper.
If you are having alignment issues with your document (for example, labels, bottom of page chopped), UNCHECK this setting.
When printing directly from within Word
Setup:
Word > File > Options > Advanced
In Section Print (about 2/3 of the way down)
Check or UNCHECK "Scale content for A4 or 8.5 x 11" paper sizes
Click OK to save changes
=====================================
Printer Software
If you have not yet done so, install the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software.
HP Full Feature Software / Full Driver printer software - supports printing and scanning from the web, printing in in other software and programs (for example, Word), and provides access to the full range of Printing Preferences / Shortcuts. The full driver generally adds at one, possibly least one, possibly two shortcuts to the Desktop: Printer Assistant, HP Scan Assistant, and/or HP Scan.
NOTES:
HP Scan is not installed if the printer does not support Scan.
The Printer Assistant is not installed if the type of full driver software does not support it.
If the printer model includes built-in Fax hardware, Fax software is installed to support the setup and use of the Fax driver.
No Sign-in required to use full driver printer software.
Reinstalling?
- Uninstall existing full driver printer software from Programs and Features.
Reference: Uninstall HP printer software and drivers / HP Smart
- If your printer software includes a separate "Help" segment in Programs and Features, uninstall that, too.
- Restart the computer and log in.
- If the printer is connected to the computer using a printer USB cable, remove / disconnect the cable before loading the software.

HP OfficeJet Pro 8130 series EasyStart Printer Setup Software - Offline Use Only
- Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)
- Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
- Microsoft Windows 11
In general, the web pack should load -
Download package > Save > Right-Click on the installation Package > Run as Administrator
If / When asked, opt for the Full Driver / Full Software to be installed.
Using USB? (Re)Connect when instructed to do so.
After the software is installed, Restart the computer and sign in.

The installation of the full driver generally adds at least one or more shortcuts to the Desktop.
Note: Printer Assistant, HP Scan Assistant, and HP Scan are dependent on printer model and supported software options.
- Printer Assistant – Where still supported as part of the full driver printer software
- HP Scan – Shortcut on Desktop named for the printer model
OR
- HP Scan Assistant – For those printers that no longer provide the Printer Assistant
- HP Scan - Shortcut named for itself
AND / OR
- When installed, HP Universal Scan software adds a separate self-named “HP Scan” shortcut
- NOTE >> If you install the full driver printer software, installing HP Universal Scan as a standalone software from category Software & Drivers is not necessary. The system will allow you to install both.
Printer Assistant shortcut > Tab Scan > Manage Scan to Computer > Enable
Or
HP Scan Assistant shortcut > Manage Scan to Computer > Enable
Example - Desktop Shortcuts
Printer_Assistant_Scan_Assistant_Shortcut_Icons_on_Desktop_9
Example - Programs and Features - Installed Printer Software
