HP OfficeJet Pro 8030 prints regular paper double sided but when I load 4x6 standard paper for postcards and select double sided printing I get the error

"Selection conflicts were encountered. Would you like them auto-resolved?"

If I say NO then it goes back to the print menu, presumably for me to resolve.

If I say YES then it prints two sheets of 4x6 paper single sided.

I cannot find information online regarding the printers inability to print smaller sheets of paper double sided.

The on-screen messages are terribly frustrating, if I can't do this then it should just say so instead of giving me cryptic messages.

I'm off to print all the even sides and re-load them and print the odd sides like I was back in the 1990's... sad now

There are two possible answers to this query:

1. The 4x6 media is too short to work with the duplex mechanism

2. That any media identified as anything other than plain paper does not duplex. This you could test by telling the printer that your 8.5x11 paper is card stock and see if it will duplex.
