@dblactn, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Here's a step-by-step guide to help resolve the "Expired Certificate - Check printer for errors" issue on your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw, especially when using macOS Sequoia 15.5:

Access the Printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS)

  1. On the printer's control panel, tap the Wi-Fi icon to view the IP address.
  2. Open a web browser on your Mac and enter the IP address in the address bar (e.g., http://192.168.1.100).
  3. This opens the Embedded Web Server (EWS) for your printer.

Check and Correct Date & Time Settings

Incorrect date/time can cause certificate errors.

  1. In the EWS, go to Settings > General Settings > Date and Time.
  2. Ensure the date, time, and time zone are accurate.
  3. Click Apply and restart the printer.

Generate a New Self-Signed Certificate

  1. In the EWS, navigate to Security > Certificates or Web Services (depending on firmware).
  2. Look for an option like Create, Renew, or Generate Self-Signed Certificate.
  3. Follow the prompts to generate a new certificate.
  4. Restart the printer after saving changes.

Re-add the Printer on macOS Using IP Printing (Workaround)

If the issue persists, use this workaround to bypass the certificate check:

  1. Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Remove the existing printer.
  3. Click Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax.
  4. Select the IP tab.
  5. Enter:
    • Address: Printer’s IP address
    • Protocol: IPP
    • Queue: Leave blank
    • Name: Any name (e.g., "HP M277dw IP")
    • Use: Select Generic PCL Printer
  6. Click Add.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
