Welcome to the HP Community --

There might be "an app for that" -- check at the Apple App Store.

I am not aware that HP Smart Mobile or Airprint does what I think you are asking - at least not as part of the job setup.

First,

Using EWS (Embedded Web Server),

Adjust the Tray and Paper settings for the paper size and type you are using for the job.

EWS – Tray and Paper Management

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Settings > Preferences > Tray and Paper (Management)

Select / Adjust settings for Paper Size / Type

Model Dependent:  Advanced section

Click Apply to save changes

--------------------------------------------------

Next

If you have paper copies of the photos / images you want to print,

If the printer has a flatbed,

Place the photos on the flatbed / glass face down within the area of the size of the paper you are using.

Separate each photo by about an inch.

OR

No Flatbed?  Arrange the photos on a flat surface with a suitable background.

Use the camera on your phone to scan

Scan as PDF or Photo / Image > Save / Print

--------------------

If you do not have paper copies of the photos / images you want to print,

  • Open a document (Pages or other document maker for iOS) -
  • Set the Page Size of the document to match the size of the paper you are using.
  • Insert the images you want to print onto one page of the document.
  • Size the inserted photos as desired to fit the space (one page, or consecutive pages, each page containing one or more photos.
  • Save the document.

Next,

If your app can print the document in its native format, do that.

If your app cannot print the document in its native format, Export the document to PDF and print.

Reminder >>

Some printers require larger margins along the bottom (DeskJet printers > .5  inch / 12.7 mm) -

Set the document margins to accommodate the needs of the printer.

If you cannot set the margins in the document, remember to use "Fit" when printing the document.

What else?

If you can get to a Windows computer (possibly MacOS?), HP Smart (Windows) supports printing one or more photos on a single sheet of paper.
