Hi,
Problem:
- I scanned few pages without any problem.
- After few pages the scanner stopped scanning with error "cancelling scan".
What I did:
- I'm scanning using HP Smart.
- I run the "HP Print and Scan Doctor" and fixed the issues it pointed at.
- Was able to scan with MS Paint.
Thanks for any help.

@Johnny581, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Reset the printer
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
- Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.
Uninstall and Re-install the HP Smart app from the Microsoft store.
Try scanning.
If the issue persists, use the HP Scan Extended app to scan and check if that helps.
Click here to download the app.
Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
