I have noticed that when installing a black ink [27/56/58] the printer software does not allow me to print until I install a color ink [22].

Is it possible to amend the program to allow me to print only in monochrome if I require?

Hi @johnny1980,

I understand you are having printing issues on your HP printer. I'll be glad to assist you with this.

I see that you are trying to print using Black ink and it's not allowing you to print. I did a bit of research and found that this printer is capable of printing in single mode.

Don't worry as I have a few steps to help you get through this concern,

Try this:

Remove the ink cartridges from the printer.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Wait at least 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

For more details, click here

There is a way to change the settings from Printer preferences.

Unfortunately, the printer won't work even though I realized I had made a mistake and did not remove the plastic cover after I installed the ink.

Now I connected the printer to the USB ports of two computers, one running Windows Server 2007 and another one running Windows 10 Home Edition and neither computer will print or scan or detect the printer/scanner device for some reason.

This is very unusual, I suspect something is wrong with the electrical wiring of the ink cartridges themselves but I am not in a position to check.

I asked the shop but they are unable to help me further, as they included a disclaimer on their fiscal receipts unfortunately, whereby they are only responsible for the sale of the cartridges involved and HP USA website indicates that this is no longer supported however I cannot believe the printer dropped dead on me, now I have to buy a new one basically or change the USB cable and see what happens.

Some photos to show that I connected the printer to the laptop.  The laptop runs Windows 10.
