@tony12191, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Printer Validation Issues!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If your printer displays an error message stating "cannot validate printer" and it won't print, there are several steps you can try to resolve the issue:
1. Check the Cable Connections
- Ensure that all cable connections between the printer and the computer are secure. This includes power cables and any USB or network (Ethernet) cables.
2. Restart the Printer
- Turn off the printer using the power button.
- Wait for about 10 seconds, then turn on the printer again.
- Check if the problem persists.
3. Reset Network Parameters (if network-connected)
- If you accidentally misconfigured the printer’s network settings, they can be reset to factory default values:
- Tap the Menu icon on the printer's control panel.
- Select Settings > Network > Restore network settings.
- Caution: A factory-installed HP X.509 certificate will be saved during reset to factory default values. User-installed Certificate Authority (CA) certificates will not be saved.
4. Link Troubleshooting (for network-connected printers)
- Check the status lights (LEDs) beside the network connector:
- Green light on: Successfully linked to the network.
- Yellow light blinking: Network transmission activity.
- If both LEDs are off:
- Check the cable connections at both ends.
- Replace the cables with known good ones.
- Switch to another network connector in the network switch, hub, or device.
5. Print Jobs and Application Checks
- Ensure that you have selected the correct printer when sending your print job.
- Verify that the printer works correctly when printing from other applications.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
