compatable cartridge hp deskjet ink advantage 3835 - printer bought in different country

bought HP deskjet ink advantage 3835 in Malaysia - uses 680 cartridge - i now live in UK and cannot buy 680 cartridge here, only 302 for the 3835 but it registers as being incompatable with the printer - can i fix this problem?

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

1. Is your printer connected to your computer via a USB cable? If not, please connect it using a USB cable.
2. Do you have a full feature printer software? To find out if you have a full feature drivers installed, try these steps: On desktop, you will find you Printer icon, click on it and let me know if Printer assistant opens
3. If you do not see the Icon on the desktop screen, Click on start > Go to All programs > Look for Printer name > Click on it and again click on your Printer name. This should open printer assistant.
4. If you don't find Printer assistant, please download full feature software from this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers, enter the Product Number and select the correct Operating System.

Thanks for your response - I have printer assistant and also have HP Smart - connected by USB 

Not sure about the 'full feature software' 

Went to the website mentioned and found my printer, but not sure what I should download?

The compatible cartridge for your region is HP 652 Black and HP 652 Tri-color and a region reset must be performed on the printer to accept these ink cartridges.

Please get back to us, when you have the right ink cartridges so we can help you reset the printer.

Hello HP support - i have had two suggestions on how to get my printer to accept the correct cartridges but so far no one has suggested anything that works. I cannot buy HP 680 cartridges or HP 652 cartridges here in the UK (which was suggested by HP Support - see email below) - Since i bought the printer in Malaysia it will only accept HP 680 cartridges.

HP 302 is meant to be the compatible cartridge for the Deskjet ink Advantage 3835 printer here in the UK but this is seen by my printer as 'incompatible' 

Please can someone tell me if i can solve this problem or must i throw away a perfectly functioning printer and buy a new one?

HP 302 is not a compatible cartridge for the  Deskjet ink advantage 3835 All in one printer.
