I know there's no factory reset for this printer, I OWN the admin password but I change the router, I already reset the wi-fi funcionality but when install the printer also on brand new computers the wizard stops when send information to the printer via USB

I have the MAC address of the printer and remember a lot of time ago that I can access to it using the mac address like a URL into internet explorer but cannot remember the command something like this :

htttp://[mac address]:80 but does not work

Is possible to access to the internat web server interface via USB cable? so I can reconfigure the wifi from inside the printer.

thank you so much

Marco

If you lost connection to your printer because network is changed, router, place, use direct wifi to recconnect to it.

Admin password, if any, is requested, till today there's no way to remove the protection password for the EWS

1. Power-on the printer and wait

2. press for 3 secs wifi button + cancel, power led should blink

3. press direct wifi button (the one on the left above the colour copy button)

4. On you device (tablet, PC, mobile) download the APP HP Smart

5. Use you device to direct connect to the HP printer via WIFI settings, default password for direct is 12345678

6. after print is connected to device open HP Smart

7. on HP Smart click on the print icon (the rightest icon) and scroll down to ADVANCED SETTINGS

8. this command should open the Embedded Web Server, from there you are done U are into your printer and can run the wireless configuration wizard, if asked insert the admin password for your printer.

DONE

@Marcus76,

Good Day.  Thank you for posting your query in the HP community.  I read the post regarding assistance to connect the printer to the Wi-Fi network if possible and to make changes to the EWS page of the printer using a Browser. I will be delighted to assist you here.

Superb description and commendable diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that

For better clarity and to assist you accurately I would require more information regarding this:

Did you try to type the IP address of the printer in the address bar of the Browser page?

Does the printer connect to your wireless network?

For now, let me keep you posted about a few things here:

  • It is not possible to use a USB connection to enter the EWS page (Embedded Web Server) of the printer.
  • It needs to be connected to a wireless network to access this page.

For now, try these steps:

  • From this link: https://hp.care/2tV7ADW perform a hard reset on the printer.
  • Perform instructions from this section “Step 1: Reset the printer
  • Then restore network settings on the printer to defaults from this user guide: https://hp.care/2u2PFdQ Refer to page 74 for steps on how to do it.
  • Refer to page 77 on how to open the Embedded Web Server page of the printer in a Browser window.
  • It also gives steps to print the IP address of the printer by printing a network configuration page.
  • This is how you open the EWS page of the printer in a Browser like Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Firefox to make changes to your printer.

  • If you want to connect the printer using a USB connection refer to page 75 for instructions.
  • To change the USB connection to a wireless connection, refer to page 76 and follow the instructions.
  • To connect the printer to the wireless network, refer to pages 68-70 on how to do it.

To completely uninstall and reinstall the latest printer drivers please follow these steps:

or now please uninstall the printer software completely by following these steps:

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Then download the latest full feature driver from https://hp.care/2igKeDv and install it on the computer after selecting the correct operating system.

Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.

This should fix it for you if you need to install the printer.
You could also run Hp print and scan doctor if you have any more issues with it from this link: https://hp.care/2EnjJnb;

Now check for issue resolution

  • To connect the printer to a wireless network you could check instructions from this link: https://hp.care/2vjpUHo (HP DeskJet 3630, 4729 Printers - Wireless Printer Setup (Windows)
  • To change a USB connection to a wireless connection follow instructions from this link: https://hp.care/2FEEUFa (HP Printers - Changing from a USB to a Wireless Connection)

If nothing works, I will send you steps to perform factory defaults on the printer as a private message. Please check your forum private message box.

Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. Good luck and keep me posted. I will keep a watch for your reply.

email received thank you but solution does not work, probably the admin password os hardcoded into the firmware, but I cannot unlock the printer if I cannot have access to it.

will try again later and let you know.

I use it with USB and it's ok. but it's a pity that I cannot use via wifi, as general suggest is important that admin password is removed before change the router. that's all.

thank you so much
