Hi @mermaidmama,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Blurred and faint prints from an HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 printer can be caused by various issues. Here are some common troubleshooting steps to help you identify and resolve the problem:

Check Ink or Toner Levels:

  • If you're using an inkjet printer, ensure that you have enough ink in all cartridges. Low or empty cartridges can result in faint prints.
  • For a laser printer, check the toner levels. Replace the toner cartridge if it's low or empty.

Print Quality Settings:

  • Make sure you have selected the appropriate print quality settings in the printer software. Choosing a higher print quality can produce sharper prints.
  • Set the print quality to "Best" or "High Quality" for important documents.

Paper Quality and Type:

  • Ensure that you are using the correct type and size of paper for your printer. Using the wrong paper can lead to print quality issues.
  • Try using higher-quality paper if you are currently using low-quality or thin paper.

Clean the Print Heads:

  • If you have an inkjet printer, the print heads may be clogged. Many HP printers have a built-in utility to clean the print heads. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to do this.

Align the Print Heads:

  • Sometimes, aligning the print heads can improve print quality. Check your printer's settings for a print head alignment option and follow the instructions.

Check for Driver Updates:

  • Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed. Outdated drivers can cause printing problems. Visit the HP website to download and install the latest drivers for your printer model.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Update your printer's firmware to the latest version if available. Firmware updates can sometimes address printing issues.

Inspect the Toner or Ink Cartridge:

  • Examine the ink or toner cartridges for any damage or leaks. Replace any damaged cartridges.

Clean the Printer Interior:

  • Dust and debris inside the printer can affect print quality. Carefully clean the interior of the printer, including rollers and paper path, using compressed air or a lint-free cloth.

Test Print:

  • Print a test page to see if the issue persists. Most printers have a test print option in their settings menu. This can help you identify if the problem is specific to certain documents or a general issue.

By following these troubleshooting steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the issue of blurry and faint prints from your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
