I replaced the ink cartridge and the drum in the printer but it still double prints when I print and make copies.  What I mean by this is, it will print the main document but in the background of the page it shows other text, sometimes text from the documeent being printed and sometimes from previous documents.  I cannot read most documents that are being printed.

Welcome to the HP Support Community. 

 

May I have the exact model name of the printer?  Click here for steps on finding the information we need. Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.

 

While you respond to that, try a printer reset -

 

1) Turn on the printer, if it is not already on. 
2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent.
3) With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the printer & wall. 
3) Wait for 60 seconds.  
4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not to a surge protector. 
5) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

Thank you for your help.  I reset my printer lilke you suggested and it did not help.  I have a HP Laser Jet Pro MFP M227fdw.

This would confirm a hardware issue with the printer. I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your printer.
