I have been trying now for over 2 continual hours to print save the dates on this printer. I have tried going into the printer server properties and adding the custom size, but the printer will not show that size on the LCD display when I load the cards into the printer. I have googled, looked on the HP support site, messaged support and still cannot find help. I needed to print these today to hand some out tonight at dinner. Looks like that won't be happening.

I am ready to light this printer on fire and throw it into traffic!!!!! Is there anyone who can help me before it comes to that?

HP Printers - Creating Custom Paper Sizes

  1. Availability depends on printer model and software and Operating System / Version.
  2. If the feature is at least partially supported the Custom Setup will be available in Devices and Printers OR in Printer Preferences.
  3. If the feature is fully supported, the custom form can be created AND then used with the printer software.

  • Devices and Printers > Print Server Properties

OR

  • Printer Preferences > Print Dialog > Paper / Quality > Custom setting box

Depending on Printer Model / Software, changing the paper in the tray may require that the paper settings be adjusted on the printer control panel.

  • Open Tray > Remove existing paper, load new Paper > Check printer control panel: “Modify” > select Paper Size or “Custom” > OK

Discussion

Adding a Custom Paper Size to the print software does not mean that custom size will show up on the Printer Control Screen.

User Guide > Load Paper - Chapter 2, starting on Page 12

After you change the paper, look for the "Change" or "Modify" paper setup on the Printer Control Panel - if the size of paper you are using in your Printer software is not listed, select "Custom" on the Printer panel.

Use your printer software on your computer to print to the custom paper size.

NOTE

It might be helpful to set the Printing Preferences on the computer to the new form size AND to set EWS to "Custom" size to get some applications to "see" / work-with custom forms.  Some programs might completely ignore custom forms.  Restart the printer and computer after creating a custom form.

Set EWS Paper Size to “Custom”

Open a web browser > enter the printer IP address in the URL / address bar >

Settings > Preferences > Paper Settings > In drop-down menu: change size to Custom Apply

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had already tried the print server properties and my printer doesn't give the option for custom page sizes on the LCD screen. I had also changed the page size within the document. Your reply was the first time I had found anything about changing it in the printer preferences. It worked and I was able to print all of my Save The Date cards to mail.

Again, thank you! ☺

You are welcome, of course.

Once you have figured out the magic, it is just step away to create your own cards, mixed content (text / images on photo paper), and other projects.

Happy Printing.
