Hi @pahall,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When the cartridge lights on your HP DeskJet 2700e are blinking and you're unable to print with an error message indicating that the O and I lights are flashing, it typically indicates a cartridge-related issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.

Ensure Cartridges are Installed Correctly:

  • Make sure that the cartridges are securely and correctly installed. Open the cartridge access door and verify that the cartridges are inserted properly.

Check for Protective Tape:

  • Ensure that you have removed any protective tape or plastic from the new cartridges. Sometimes, users forget to remove the protective covering, leading to printing issues.

Clean Cartridge Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Remove the cartridges.
  • Clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer with a lint-free cloth or cotton swab lightly moistened with distilled water. Allow them to dry completely.

Reset the Printer:

  • After cleaning, plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  • Perform a printer reset. This can often be done by turning off the printer, unplugging it, waiting for 30 seconds, and then plugging it back in.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer on the HP website. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve issues.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Ensure there are no paper jams or obstructions in the printer. Open all access doors and check for any paper or debris.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
