I am aware that the photosmart d110 is now legacy and not supported by HP. But I believe this problem could be universal to all models.

Hp Photosmart d110 all-in-one legacy (discontinued)
Windows 10 22h2.

Here's the problem. d110 worked perfect in win7, worked perfect when upgraded to win10 21h1, then sometime late last summer I inadvertently removed some usb items in device manager. Shortly or the next time I used Printer it was no longer working as USB unit. Could not get it to function as USB. But did work wireless without major issues. Wireless was slow and whonky. I want to use the printer as USB like it was working in win10. Hoped the recent upgrade to 22h2 finally would resolve printer USB problem. It did not.

Here's what I did since August 2022. In rough order before any 22h2 upgrade that I did 1-23-2023.

Windows update with any and all printer drivers they offered, right up to 2 weeks ago.

Followed the repeated forum instructions of removing drivers, printers and anything else required when working through windows settings in printer & driver troubleshooting.

Disconnected all cables, turned off printer and rebooted steps all the above at least 15 times with no change. This is a new USB cable I was using fine until the assumed event.

Printer can print test page from unit via front control lcd.

Windows loads and sees the printer perfectly, sets it as default and shows it at driver USB001 (like it was last year before I possibly made the change-if it was me)

Downloaded and ran Hp scan&ddoc - reports all is working no issues.

The HP app HPSmart that comes up with the default d110 in printers&scanners item reports all is working correctly with the printer.

Under d110 properties in advanced is Driver: HP Photosmart D110 series Class Driver

I have full control under security tab.

This is reports from events window at most recent reboot. Win10 finds and loads printer with no problem.

Under properties print processor is hpfpp101 & winprint with identical data types

Here's the summary of the problem. Win10 sees a fully correct d110, both HP products see and pass everything about the d110, ALL my other word programs or anything else that can print from see and connect to the d110 printer with no apparent problem but nothing can send a document to the print queue. The print queue dialog does and will work from any program or windows settings and I can watch the print request come up and delete instantly.

Print spooler working, all windows services are working and running, the print queue will open but when I click 'test page' the queue will show the request coming through then delete instantly. This points to a usb driver issue I can not resolve. HP only hands me off to MS who isn't any help.

Here's the closet I've seen so far on the forums. https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04372450

The ONLY thing so far that I didn't do was the hail mary of wiping HP completely from the system (there are instructions on this forum to do so) and freshly installing the whole bloated program. And it must be run as administrator AND compatibility mode as well.

If anyone has stumbled on any USB cures for this it would be amazing. One of my thoughts is I've had this printer for years on win7 and when I upgraded to win10 21h1 I think the correct usb driver - win7, wasn't removed and worked in win10 as I didn't change anything about the printer. I may have removed or made windows set that legacy USB driver as disabled or something, which MS does do sometimes.

Thanks for reading.

I check this forum almost daily now.
