I'm printing double sided on A6 paper. The printer doesn't allow automatic flipping with this size of paper so I have to use manually print on both sides. This involves rinserting the paper after one side has been printed.

The problem is when the second side is printed it does not print on the correct sheet. I was doing this in batches and it worked fine at first, so something has changed. I have checked all settings and cannot see any error. I tried on A4 paper and the same happens on manual double sided printing but no problem with the flip on long edge option.

Thank you for your suggestions. I have now got the problem resolved by phoning HP support. The answer was to use the driver for HP Envy. That is able to handle automatic double sided copying so that I don't have to use the manual option.

Hi! @dalgetty, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out. Let me ask you a few questions in order to assist you better.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

Does the issue persist when you make a copy from your printer?

Have you tried checking with a different brand paper?

Have you selected correct paper size on the printer?

Let's continue with the troubleshooting steps now.

Try the steps recommended below.

You can print on both sides of a sheet of paper automatically by using the automatic two-sided printing mechanism (duplexer).
1. From your software, select Print.
2. Make sure your printer is selected.
3. Click the button that opens the Properties dialog box.
Depending on your software application, this button might be called Properties, Options, Printer Setup,
Printer Properties, Printer, or Preferences.
4. Select the appropriate options.
On the Layout tab, select Portrait or Landscape orientation, and select Flip on Long Edge or Flip
on Short Edge from the Print on Both Sides drop-down list.
● On the Paper/Quality tab, select the appropriate paper type from the Media drop-down list in the
Tray Selection area, and then select the appropriate print quality in the Quality Settings area.
● Click the Advanced button, in the Paper/Output area, select the appropriate paper size from the
Paper Size drop-down list.
Click OK to print.
NOTE: After one page of the document has been printed, wait for the printer to reload the paper
automatically to print on the other side. You do not need to take any action.

If the issue still persists uninstall the printer software from the root level on your PC and install the full feature printer software.

In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.

Select your HP printer.

Select Uninstall.

In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.

In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”

Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.

Type printui.exe /s and click OK.

Click on Drivers tab.

Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.

Select OK.

Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.

Close Devices and Printers.

Update the full feature printer software using this link. Click Here

I checked everything you suggested. Please note the problem only arises when I use Manually print on both sides  there is no problem if I use the flip on long/short side. However this option is not available when printing on A6 size paper.

I uninstalled and reloaded the drivers but again this made no difference. The problem is still there.

I clicked your link to update firmware. When the printer update screen comes up there is no printer listed that can be selected.
