HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One Printer

I have a HP Envy 4500 series printer.  I use to be able to double-side print but now the double-sided printing option has disappeared.  I can only manually do it, not select and have it automatically done. I have tried to troubleshoot through videos and other options but I cannot find a fix.  I am really frustrated.  How do I fix this?

Hi @NIC484

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the double-sided printing option has disappeared on your HP Envy 4500 printer, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Printer Software/Driver Update: Ensure that you have the latest software and drivers installed for your printer. Visit the HP official website, locate your printer model, and download the latest drivers and software. Install them on your computer, and this may resolve any compatibility issues.

Printer Settings: Check the printer settings on your computer to ensure that double-sided printing is enabled. Open the print settings dialog when printing a document, and look for the option related to double-sided printing. Make sure it's set to automatic or enabled.

Printer Properties: Right-click on your printer in the "Devices and Printers" or "Printers & Scanners" section on your computer. Select "Printer Properties" and navigate to the "Device Settings" or a similar tab. Look for an option related to duplex printing and ensure it's set correctly.

Reinstall Printer: Uninstall the printer from your computer, disconnect the printer, and then reinstall it. This process can sometimes reset settings and resolve issues. After reinstalling, check if the double-sided printing option is available.

Print Preferences: When you are in the print dialog box, check the "Print Preferences" or "Printer Properties" to make sure that the duplex printing option is not disabled there.

Check Printer Hardware: Ensure that your printer supports automatic double-sided printing. Check the printer manual or specifications to confirm that the hardware is capable of double-sided printing.

Reset Printer Settings: On the printer itself, you may find an option to reset settings to default. Check the printer menu or consult the manual to find this option. After resetting, try setting up the printer again on your computer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
