HP Envy 4520
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

recently my 4520 printer has refused to do automatic duplex printing.  It goes to manual duplex - printing one side of each page and then asking me to reinsert pages for 2nd side

Hi,
Make sure the Automatic Duplexing option is enabled:

Enter Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
Right click the printer icon, then click Printer Properties.
Click the Device Settings tab.
Set the Automatic Two-Sided Duplex Accessory as installed and click OK to save the change.

Now Automatic Duplexing should become available.

Shlomi

This solved my problem - Thank you

I have no idea how the status changed to uninstalled

HP Recommended

Unfortunately no change, printer will still only print single side.

Mine, too. The "Installed" won't "stick". It reverts back to not installed and keeps making me feed the reverse side pages manually. I've followed every instruction I can find about reinstalling the driver. I know it's driver / OS related because two other computers still using the same printer have no problem with the automatic duplexing.

Mine too, Does not print both sides

I followed everything , in fact it was all set as described, but it does not print on both sides. Do I have to reinstall the driver and how I should do?
