Hi @razzawi,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I understand your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw is no longer powering on or responding, even after trying power resets and removing/reseating the cartridges
Is it worth fixing?
In most cases: No.
Here’s why:
• A formatter board or PSU replacement + labor usually costs ₹12,000–₹18,000 in India / $120–$180 in the US.
• A refurbished working M277dw often costs less than that.
• HP no longer produces key parts for this generation, so repairs are unreliable long-term.
For printers older than 5–7 years, repairs rarely make financial sense.
Before you give up, 3 quick checks just to make sure it’s not a small issue
(These cover the only “fixable without parts” issues on the M277dw.)
1. Try a direct wall outlet (no surge protector or extension)
• This model is sensitive to voltage drops.
• Plug the printer directly into a wall socket and try again.
2. Perform the hard reset
• Unplug the power cable from the back.
• Wait 60 seconds.
• Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
• Reconnect and try powering on.
3. Check for life signs
• Do you see any lights, display flicker, fan noise, or relay click when you power on?
No signs at all → PSU failure is likely.
Starts, then dies → formatter failure is likely.
These two parts are the ones that kill the M277dw.
Final recommendation
If the printer is more than 5 years old and shows zero signs of life, replacing it is the practical and cost-effective choice.
If it shows any flicker or partial startup, you can repair it, but only if the repair cost is under 30% of buying a new printer.
I hope this helps.
