I have received this error code OXB9808BFC on my HP OfficeJet 3833. The buttons on the printer flash with the error code lit up. My warranty has expired. Can anyone help?

Many thanks.

Hi @Enza67,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error code OXB9808BFC on your HP OfficeJet 3833 indicates a general hardware issue, which can be frustrating, especially with an expired warranty. Here are some steps you can take to try to resolve the problem:

1. Restart the Printer

  • Power off the printer and unplug it from the wall. Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset temporary errors.

2. Check for Paper Jams

  • Inspect the printer for any paper jams or obstructions. Remove any stuck paper or foreign objects in the paper path.

3. Check Cartridges

  • Make sure that the ink cartridges are installed correctly. Remove them and reinstall them to ensure a proper connection.

4. Reset the Printer

  • You can perform a hard reset:
    1. Turn off the printer and unplug it.
    2. Hold the power button for 15 seconds.
    3. Plug it back in and turn it on.

5. Update Firmware

  • If you can access the printer settings, check for firmware updates through the HP Smart app or the printer’s menu.

6. Perform a Factory Reset

  • If the issue persists, you might want to perform a factory reset:
    1. On the printer's control panel, go to Settings.
    2. Select Printer Maintenance.
    3. Choose Restore Factory Defaults.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
