HP OfficeJet Pro 8025 All-in-One Printer

Once again I'm getting event code 62.80.1. Fixed it twice before this past year following instructions from community. Now its back and nothing works and the machine does not print. Am I toast now?

@marie1945, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Event code 62.80.1 on the HP OfficeJet Pro 8025 typically indicates a printhead issue. Since you've resolved this before but it's now recurring, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

Step 1: Power Reset

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  3. Plug the printer back in and power it on.

Step 2: Reseat the Printhead

If the issue persists, try reseating the printhead:

  1. Open the printer's cartridge access door.
  2. Remove the ink cartridges and set them aside.
  3. Lift the latch securing the printhead and gently remove the printhead.
  4. Reinsert the printhead securely and lock the latch.
  5. Reinstall the ink cartridges and close the door.
  6. Restart the printer and check if it works.

Step 3: Clean the Printhead Contacts

  1. Power off the printer and unplug it.
  2. Remove the printhead as described above.
  3. Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to clean the gold contacts on the printhead and inside the printer where it connects.
  4. Let everything dry for 10 minutes.
  5. Reinstall the printhead and cartridges, then turn the printer back on.

Step 4: Perform a Semi-Full Reset

If the issue continues:

  1. On the printer's control panel, press Setup (gear icon) > Printer Maintenance > Restore Defaults.
  2. If that doesn't work, perform a semi-full reset (this erases all settings):
    • Press the Back (⟵) button four times quickly.
    • Open Support Menu > Reset Menu > Semi-Full Reset.
  3. The printer will restart; set it up again and test printing.

Step 5: Check for Firmware Updates

  1. On the printer, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer.
  2. If a firmware update is available, install it.
  3. Restart the printer and test printing.
