Hi @tlmatted1, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're dealing with an issue where your HP Envy 6152 is spitting out extra paper, but when you tried using HP-branded paper, it didn’t happen. That could be a good clue! Sometimes, issues like this can be related to the type or quality of the paper being used, as non-HP paper may not be calibrated correctly for the printer.

It might be worth continuing to use HP paper for now, but if the problem persists, there could be an issue with the paper feed rollers or a setting in the printer’s software causing the extra sheets to be fed. You could also try checking for any paper jams or misalignments in the paper tray.
Let's go through a few steps to troubleshoot the issue of extra paper being fed:

Check the Paper Feed Rollers:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Gently open the paper tray and the rear access door (if applicable).
  • Inspect the rollers for any dust, debris, or paper fragments. Clean them with a soft, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water.
  • Let the rollers dry, then close the tray and rear door.

Check Paper Alignment:

  • Make sure the paper is aligned correctly in the tray. It should be placed straight, not angled, and the paper guides should snugly fit against the edges of the paper.
  • Avoid overfilling the tray, as this can cause the printer to pull in multiple sheets.

Check Paper Type Settings:

  • On your printer, make sure the paper type setting matches the paper you're using.
  • On your printer’s display screen, go to Settings > Paper Setup or Paper Type and make sure it reflects the correct paper size and type.
  • If the paper is thick or glossy (like photo paper), select the appropriate paper type to ensure the printer handles it properly.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Outdated drivers can sometimes cause odd printing behavior. Ensure your printer drivers are up to date by going to the HP Support website and checking for updates for your Envy 6152 model.
  • Alternatively, you can use the HP Smart app to check for and install any updates.

Reset the Printer:

  • Sometimes, a full reset can help clear any internal settings causing issues.
  • Turn off the printer, wait 10 seconds, and turn it back on.

Test with Non-HP Paper:

  • Once you've tried using the HP paper for a while, you can test with non-HP paper again to see if the issue comes back.
  • If it does, then the problem could likely be related to paper quality or type, or you may need to check the paper path for any issues.

Perform a Printer Self-Test:

  • You can perform a self-test to check if the issue is consistent. On the printer’s menu, look for a Print Quality Report or Self-Test option.
  • This can also help identify any alignment or feed issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
