HP Deskjet 2600 all-in-one series

My printer only prints very faded colours (even black, the prints i am trying to do are B&W).

the copy function from the scanner only delivers blank copies.

I have already unplugged and replugged the printer,

the cartridges indicate level of ink is ok,

I have already run the cleaning test.

I really dont know what to do.

Hi ConnieBro1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the "faded printout" issue.

Try and  print a Print Quality Diagnostic page - Press and hold the Start Copy Color button

on the printer control panel for 3 seconds to print a Print Quality Diagnostic page.

Post the Print Quality Diagnostic page here so we can help you further.

You may also refer to this document - Fixing Poor Print Quality

And also try Single cartridge mode

The printer you own can work in single-cartridge mode, wherein the printer will be able to print with one cartridge in the printer.which will help us identify if its a cartridge issue or a printhead issue
To try single-cartridge mode follow the below steps:

remove the black ink from the printer, leave the color in and try printing
then remove the color ink and, insert the black  in and try printing

Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

thanks so much for reaching out and suggesting all those steps!

Update from my side on the different actions you proposed:

Print Quality Diagnostic page: see page below - not great

- on printing single cartridge mode - i think we are onto something: keeping only the colour cartridge resulted in perfect printouts! while with the black cartridge gave me a blank page. So happy to hear your suggestions on that.

- printer firmware update - there was no update available.

happy to hear what you suggest to solve my black cartridge issue.

thakns again!

@ConnieBro1,

I appreciate you trying all the suggested steps, this could be a defective black cartridge.

I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Have a great day!
