Hi @fluex,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're encountering an issue with your HP printer and are being prompted about a problem with the account but don’t know your account information, here’s how you can address it:

1. Check HP Account Information

  • Visit HP Account Login Page: Go to the HP Account Login page.
  • Forgot Password: If you’re unsure of your login credentials, click on "Forgot password" and follow the prompts to reset it.
  • Account Recovery: If you have access to the email associated with the account, check for any emails from HP that might help you recover or identify your account information.

2. HP Smart App Troubleshooting

  • Reinstall HP Smart App: Sometimes reinstalling the app can resolve account-related issues. Uninstall and then reinstall the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
  • Check App Permissions: Ensure that the app has the necessary permissions to access your printer and account details.

3. Check Printer Connection and Status

  • Network Connection: Make sure your printer is connected to the same network as your computer or mobile device.
  • Printer Status: Check the printer’s display or status lights for any error messages or issues.

4. Remove and Re-add the Printer

  • Remove Printer: In the HP Smart app, go to the list of printers and remove the problematic printer.
  • Re-add Printer: Follow the prompts to add the printer back to the app, which might resolve any connection or account issues.

5. Perform Printer and Network Troubleshooting

  • Power Cycle: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Router Reboot: Restart your router to refresh your network connection.
  • Printer Reset: If your printer has a reset option in its menu, perform a factory reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
