Officejet 7110 wide A3 printer
macOS 10.14 Mojave

Hello,

We've had this HP Officejet 7110 wide A3 printer since a couple of years. From the beginning it has had this continuous self-cleaning loop issue when it its switched on. There is a lot of 'clunking' and sliding and spraying noise, which only stops after unplugging the printer (Pressing the power button to stop is simply ignored)

We've found a workaround by pressing the X button and pulling out the power plug. Then we press the power button again and release the X button. It will start up again and after some clunking and moving under the hatch it is ready for printing.

We've come to live with it, we don't often use it, but it is quite annoying and it unnecessarily spills a lot of ink.

I wonder if there is anyone out there who can shed some light on this pesky issue.

Any help is much appreciated

@Flevolander

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

Please check in the Printer's EWS page if you have the option to clean the Printhead

Print a Network Configuration Page

  1. Under the General Information section, find the IP address.

Figure : Example of IP address on the Network Configuration page

  2. Open a new web browser.

  3. Type the IP address in your web browser's address bar, and then press Enter. The Embedded Web Server (EWS) opens.

  4. From the Home tab, click Print Quality Toolbox.

  5. Click Clean next to Clean Ink Smear.

  6. After the printer prints a test page, click OK.

Note: The EWS options might slightly vary depending on the printer model

If the issue persists I suggest you contact HP Support for Service Options
