@Jaxx173869, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Using Wi-Fi Direct temporarily disconnects your Android device from the internet. Press and hold the Wireless button for 3 secs and when it starts flashing, you printer is ready to configure a WiFi-Direct connection.

Now, follow the steps below-

  1. Go to 123.hp.com and install the HP Smart app. Once installed, open the app, and then tap the Plus sign .

  2. Tap Looking for Wi-Fi Direct Printers?, and then tap your Wi-Fi Direct printer name.

  3. Tap Connect to the printer, enter the printer password, and then tap Connect.

  4. Wait for the connection to complete (approximately 5-10 seconds). When the connection completes, the printer name and icon displays on the app home screen. If the printer does not display, tap the Plus sign , and then select the printer.

  5. On the app home screen, select Print Photos or Print Documents to open the item on your device that you want to print. If your printer supports scanning, you can also use the Scan feature with Wi-Fi Direct.

  6. Reconnect to your local Wi-Fi network after the print or scan job completes. Open the Android Wi-Fi settings, and then select your usual wireless network, or tap the Wi-Fi Direct printer name and tap Forget.

I hope that answers your concern adequately. Let me know!
