 my desk jet 2540 will not print in black, color is fine, new ink in both, worked fine weeks ago. did all online tests etc.  help folks.

Get a plastic dish and put 1/4" of hot water in it.  
Use rubber gloves.
Remove the black cartridge and put the ink printhead down into the water.  
Soak for few minutes, then remove. 
Touch the printhead to a paper towel and you should see a black line.

Repeat the soak procedure of required.
Clean/dry the contacts with a lint free wipe like a coffee filter.
Install back in the printer.
Try printing.

TY but, how do i remove printhead on my HP 2450 printer to soak it ?

The printhead is on the bottom of the 2540 cartridge(s).

TY For your time, good man,  PRINTER up and running, hard to imagine, but it was a defective HP BLACK, INK.  i did buy it a year ago, from HP  but never opened it ? Strange.. I'm sure HP will tell me B/S, but will let them know..
