bonsimon,
Don't turn on print sharing, it is not needed.
Let's try this once your printer is connected with your Time Capsule.
- Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
- Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
This will reveal whether your printer is properly connected to your router. if it is not, unplug the printer's Ethernet cable, turn off the printer, unplug power from the back of the printer, wait 30 seconds, plug in and turn on. Retest. If the printer is not getting a valid IP address (i.e., not 0.0.0.0 or 169.254.x.x) there is something wrong with the printer.
If you get through this part, go to your Mac and reset the printing system:
- Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
- Right (control) click the print queue area and select Reset Printing System.
- Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
