Hi @slg1063, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The "Ink System Failure" error usually indicates an issue with the ink cartridges, printhead, or printer firmware. Try these steps to fix it:

Reset the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Remove all ink cartridges.
  3. Wait 2-3 minutes.
  4. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  5. Reinstall the cartridges and check if the error is gone.

Clean the Printhead (For Removable Printheads)

If your printer has a removable printhead:

  1. Remove the ink cartridges.
  2. Take out the printhead carefully.
  3. Wipe the electrical contacts with a lint-free cloth and distilled water.
  4. Let it dry completely before reinserting.

Update Printer Firmware

  • Go to HP Support and download the latest firmware for your model.
  • Install it and restart the printer.

Use the "Clean Printhead" Utility

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Settings > Maintenance > Clean Printhead.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions.

Check the Ink Cartridges

  • Use genuine HP cartridges.
  • If you installed new cartridges, remove and reinstall them securely.
  • If an error persists, try replacing them.

Hard Reset (For Persistent Errors)

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug it and hold the power button for 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect and turn it back on.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
